Summary: Some bones inside your body are not solid. For example, the long bones in your arms and legs. In the middle of these bones is a soft tissue called bone marrow. You can see this in Figure 3. The bone marrow produces red and white blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen around the body. White blood cells protect against infection.
