Review your confidence levels after each topic by returning to the learning objectives. Ask yourself if you can now understand and describe scientific concepts and processes. You can also use the Think back, Summary questions, and end-of-chapter What have I learned? questions to test your understanding. Then draw a face in the final column of your table to show how you feel now. If you are still unsure about a particular topic, find a study buddy to revise it again with you, or ask your teacher for support.
Answer these questions to reflect on your revision strategy:
- Did the strategy improve my confidence when learning?
- Was the strategy enjoyable?
- Did I have enough time and resources to use the strategy well?
- Would I use the strategy again?
- Would I make any changes to the strategy? (If yes, make a note of these changes for the future.)
If a particular strategy worked well for you, plan to use it again. If it did not work well, try a different method. You might want to find another study buddy who uses the strategy you prefer. You could also change the strategy according to the content – sometimes a strategy works well for one topic and not for another.
Learning tip Different revision strategies work better for different people – do what is best
When you have revised each topic, you will be ready to sit your exam. Remember that you have planned to do the best you can!
